SAM/SAMUEL HERNÁNDEZ - protagonist

Sam is a complicated boy, full of dualities and layers, and not even he can understand himself. He is constantly shrouded by an extreme fear of everything and everyone, and because of this, most of the time, he ends up acting defensively and being rude to others. Sam is insecure about his appearance and hates being touched by people he doesn't know, but at the same time, he can only calm down from a panic attack with a comforting hug.
He can be grumpy and bad-tempered while also being childish and defenseless. He can't be alone for too long in any place without feeling a panic attack coming on. Things like stuffed animals and toys comfort him, as does his intense hyperfocus on dinosaurs. He has a vast collection of dinosaur toys and spends hours and hours watching movies or reading books about them. Anything related to dinosaurs makes him feel extremely excited and happy, though he's embarrassed by it. However, with the people he trusts most, he would talk endlessly about all the types of dinosaurs he knows.
He can't be without his special dinosaur necklace. Sam always holds it in his hands during his panic attacks and constantly spins it between his fingers, despite trying his best to hide it. If he lost his necklace, he would definitely freak out and go into a full-blown panic.
He is like a grown-up child and does everything to hide that side of himself from others, unless those others are people he trusts deeply. When he becomes attached to someone, he becomes extremely loyal and honest. But it’s very rare for him to allow anyone to get that close to him.
Despite everything, Sam has a kind and sensitive heart; he just doesn’t know how to show it. All he can easily express is anger and fear, but we all know that deep down, he is indeed a good person— he’s just been broken into many pieces.

SAM EATING DISORDER:
Sam tends to vomit a lot during panic attacks; his body simply reacts as if there’s something wrong that he needs to immediately expel, almost like a defense mechanism. When he was hospitalized as a child, he was practically unable to eat. At first, he refused to put anything in his mouth, but even when he began to try eating on his own, everything he ate would immediately come back up, and then he would cry in crisis for hours afterward. To be able to eat, he used a feeding tube throughout his time in the hospital until he could eat again. **Image of the feeding tube he used; using cute stickers made it easier for him:
Sam, at his current age, enjoys eating a lot; in fact, sometimes he eats even more than he should. The problem is that during times of extreme nervousness, his body reacts on its own, and he tries to run to the nearest bathroom as quickly as possible. When he goes through periods of relapse and many crises, he ends up losing a lot of weight, which makes him insecure. He avoids looking in the mirror more than usual because all he sees is a fragile and small body, almost like a skeleton looking back at him. He wishes he were bigger, stronger, and more independent, which triggers another crisis and often leads to vomiting. Sam’s parents and Erik do everything they can to help him, but Sam isolates himself in his own world, making it almost impossible to bring him back. Cuddling his kitten is very therapeutic for him during these phases. Sam likes the warmth and softness of the kitten’s fur and feels comfortable and secure in the presence of a little animal.
